Canada’s Blog of Record Publishes Five Spooky Stories
If you eat too much candy, your teeth will rot out. That is why, this Halloween, the editors of Rochdale Variety, Canada’s blog of record, are happy to dole out five very spooky stories. Sarah Burgoyne describes a haunting at an empty mountain retreat, while Eliza Robertson hears a ghostly voice from beyond the grave. Jessie Jones discovers horror in the coldest room of the house, André Babyn finds it in the hallowed shelves of a library, and Paige Cooper— oh god!—in the apparition of a dime store portrait that hates. I think you will agree that these are some very spooky stories. Dig in, you clamouring ghouls.
Here they are by title:
- “I have no time to explain why my voice is different.” by Eliza Robertson
- “He said he could find me a gun, and it’d probably be good for me to have one.” by Sarah Burgoyne
- “I do not look into mirrors at night.” by Paige Cooper
- “At the end of every shift I would return to the circulation desk to describe my growing paranoia.” by André Babyn
- “Please go away. Please go away.” by Jessie Jones
Thank you to everyone who submitted. We had an absolute ball reading them. We toast a great goblet of decidedly human blood to you. Stay tuned for next year.
